The decision has been made
I have decided to do the 2D design for a tattoo. Once the tattoo has been designed, I will draw it on an individual and upload images.
Exploring Ideas for 2D Solution
For the 2D solution, I feel that designing a tattoo based on typography would be ideal. As there are endless tattoo design available, when researching for tattoos that were purely designed with letters, I could not find any.
Exploring Ideas for Sculpture
I have thought of items that individuals wear and which would be most fun to create with the use of typography. When researching sculptures have been made on dresses, shoes, jewelery, jumpers and t-shirts. I feel that using type to design netted gloves would be a good idea as there are different patterns you can create.
Wearing Type
Research has been carried out to identify clothing items that are made by type. Some of the images I have gathered are very interesting and prove that to design the items involve true dedication. As the brief is open to any clothing item or a 2D solution, my idea has expanded.
48 Hour Brief: Wearing Type
The 48 hour brief has stated that a sculptured item or 2D design for a person must be developed through the use of San-Serif or Serif font types. Researching each font type I have included the research on a design page I have created. The page includes the definition, areas within letters that single out the definition and font examples on each type.

Problems converting.
I am having problems converting my flast file into .wmv. I will keep trying. I have managed to upload the video to youtube but not all of my animation is showing and there is no sound. Once I have solved this problem the proper animation will be uploaded.

Change in Direction
Developing the video
Opening: The opening scene consist of background music. This section will introduce the song "To Heaven."
I should wake up this town: This section will have a moving road with houses appearing. The animation will set the scene as if it is night.
My hearts on fire: Some typography will be here and symbols.
Main road as no-ones around: Main road moving through the video.
As the flame climbs higher: Animated Flame.

Ideas
Listening to the song and looking at the lyrics, my intial thought was to have an animated video with a little girl walking through bare streets.
The image above is the character I had created. As the software I am using to create the music video is Macromedia Flash, I had imported the image into the library. Thinking about what to do for each line within the lyrics, I struggled to think of ideas and how the little girl can be used excessively with different background and movement within the video...time for a change in direction.

Lyrics
I should wake up this town, my hearts on fire,
Main road and no-ones around as the flames climb higher,
I have been here before and I know the way,
But it all seems sweeter and sure in the light of the day,
In the light of the day.
I will be developing the video based on the first verse of the song " To Heaven". The duration will be 30 seconds - 1 minute.

Flash Animation
Each of these have animation characters in the video. I like the way a story has been told with the animation.
"The Dark"The Girl with Dark Thoughts"
"The Dark"
These animation videos have music and words that explain the story. I thought these videos were very clever as the motion and animation went well with the music. Animation I love - Not the music!!!
"Jerusalem" Animation - Music by Matisyahu
"Dash it"
These are videos that tell the story with characters.

Pro:Four
I have decided for Pro:Four to do the music video for "To Heaven" by Shauna Mullin. As there have been choices available each week on a design or video, I want to show a range within the minor designs. As Shauna had mentioned that she had liked the animated videos, I will be designing a video clip for the first verse of the song through Marcomedia Flash.

Drawings from sketch pad.
For Pro:Three, there is a minimum of 10 pages to be designed in our sketch pads. As the content is to show stage development and storyboards, I have began sketching my development stages and what will be involved throughout my moving image.
Page 1 - Introducing the "Early Memory":
As the concept of this project was to be on anything, I have decided to base the "Earliest Memory" on myself and twin sister. As there was an option of the editorial design, movie clip or animation, I have decided to go with designing the moving image.
Page 2 - "Emotions":
As there are endless memories of growing up from whatever age you may be. When thinking of what memories to include in my moving image, I wanted to show a range of emotions within the story. Although the interview clips are not at all emotional, keywords are expressed throughout each story explaining how myself and sister felt at the time.
Page 3- "My Memories - Will tell the tale...":
On this sketch, there is memory one, two and three. Along with the small stories, I have created a title for each indicating what each story is going to be based on.
Page 4- "My Memories - Will tell the tale...":
On this sketch, there is memory four, five, six and seven. Along with the small stories, I have created a title for each indicating what each story is going to be based on.
Page 5 - "Time Line" -
On my sketch pad, I have also cut out photographs of me and my twin sister to show the variety of photographs I will be using. As Pro:Three is based on "Earliest Memory", I have included photographs of when me and my sister were born, one years old, three, at play school and primary school. Not all the photographs can be used on the moving image due to the time limit therefore they have been put into my sketch pad.
Page 6 - "Moving Image Content":
This page is basically indicating what is going to by visible on my moving image. As Interview clips, photographs and typography is the main focus, a small paragraph has been included under each section.
Page 7 - "Storyboarding":
This Page is showing the structure in which my storyboards will be laid out. As I want my moving image to be professional, I want the structure to be continuous throughout each section.
Page 8 - "Storyboard Structure"-
The structure will involve:
Interview Title ---> Interview Clip ---> Photographs
The Interview title will give viewers an idea of what each story is going to be about, the Interview clip will enlighten viewers with the memory and the photographs will be evident to what the memory was based on.
Page 9 - "Story Board" -
This page consists of the first half of the video. The story board shows each section within the video and what exactly will be shown when each slide is played within the moving image. As I wanted the video to be consistent, you will see a pattern forming from looking at each slide which includes the memory title, the interview clip and photographs to show each memory.
Page 10 - "Story Board" -
This is the second half of the video. A total of five memories are being told between myself and twin sister in the video. Throughout the storyboard, each memory is visible through the use of photographs, interview clips and the memory title.

Interviews - Change of Direction.
Initially I was going to produce an editoral spread on a number of stories told by friends and family. When interviewing, the stories being told were mainly on past pet animals and primary school. Thinking further into the design and how the memories can be put on to an editoral design, I struggled with the idea as there was no photographs available for me to develop a collage.
Change in Direction
As the first idea of using friends and family memories was not going to be used, I thought about memories I had myself of when I was younger. Having a twin sister, every memory involved myself and Catriona therefore, I carried out conversations of me and her talking about various early memories that we each had remembered.
I have uploaded the Interviews between me and my sister Catriona onto Youtube. Feel free to have a look. They will be used throughout the video clip along with the photographs posted below and typography...Cringe..We sound so Derry!!!

Photograph Structure.
Here are photographs I have come across when doing my research based on each memory. These photographs will be visible throughout the moving image I will produce. I feel that with the use of images it can make my video more interesting to look at and will hold the attention of viewers. As myself and sister have been talking through each memory via video clip, after each photographs will be used in relation to each story.
The photograph to the left is a cut out from a newspaper.: Angela is Mum in a Million, (20th June 1987), Derry Journal.
Having come across this article, I want to import it onto my video clip at the beginning. This will come after the small introduction to engage the viewers.
Info: My mother had a kidney transplant just shortly before she fell pregnant with me and my sister. As my mother is a renal patient she was told that she would never have children. To a suprise, not only was she pregnant with one baby, she was pregnant with two - the joys!! With my mother falling pregnant there was huge publicity as she was the first Northern Ireland kidney transplant recipient to have twins.
The photographs to the right will be used after the introduction. I have selectedthese two photographs to be put into the moving image as I find them very funny. How fashion has changed........
This newspaper cut out is from Play school. As there is a story within my video clip talking about the "Green Dress" in primary school, the image above shows me and my teacher at play school.
The next section within the moving image is when myelf and sister are in Primary 1. The title for this story is "April Fools", a story about myself, Catriona and granda. The Image to the left shows me in primary school and the right is me, Catriona and my granda.
The images above represent the "School Choir" story. These will follow the story of Catriona and myself auditioning for the school choir in Primary 3.
These photographs are of myself, sister and cousins at my old home celebrating "Millennium", this was a fond memory for me as I was with my cousins having a party that we did not really understand what it was for. Again, these photographs will follow a video clip.

Next Step.
I am going to ask older family members their earliest memories and come to a decision on what my design concept is going to be. I will choose from:
How memories have changed
From old to young
Emotions
How memories have changed

Emotions
Similar Memories
The best story
Some of my memories.
I know, pictures are extremely blurry but I was taking some Pictures with my phone whilst looking through old memories. Here are some pictures of myself and twin sister, looking through the old photo albums have brought many memories back so I thought I would share them with you. First Communion, Holidays, the time Catriona pushed me off the round about and tore my ligaments!!
Memory Feedback...
I have interviewed some family members and friends asking them about their earliest memory. Although I have recieved their memories I have not been able to record them as it was over the phone. I have jotted down their memories whilst they were talking to me and I have recorded two stories as I have asked my sister and cousin to tell me their earliest memory today. I have also took full advantage of Facebook and have posted the research question on my page.
One thing I have learned that most memories are about going to school and pet animals. As this research has been recieved I can work with the information I have recieved, although I am eggar to discover the best story ever!!! I shall keep searching to see.

Suggestions
- If possible, I want to include a number of stories within the editorial design. My initial idea was to identify how memories are different by interviewing older, mid-age, teenagers and children. A spread can then also be designed showing how memories have changed in relation to age and ways of which individuals have grew up.
- An other idea I have had is including family members and friends. Using perhaps photographs and key words to develop my designs.
- Being aware that memoryies involve individuals thinking back to the past, several emotions may arise when interviewing my target audience. I had thought of doing the design based on emotions e.g. sad, happy, fun, loving, envy spreads...
Early Memory Idea's
I have brain stormed through ideas that can be used to develop the editorial design. You can see that the spider diagram includes "one person" and "more than one person" and ideas that fall under each category. To build up the editorial designs, I will be using possible photographs that capture memories or I could use photographs of interviewees. Depending on the emotion key words will be highlighted.
My Earliest Memory...
I was at play school, I must have been maybe 4 years old. Me and my twin sister had been in the class and I remember our teacher was called Bridie (there is a picture of her lying about somewhere I must actually digg it up). When we were playing myself and sister loved to dress up with the costumes in the classroom. There was this long bottle green dress that is clear in my mind, myself and sister would always fight over who was going to wear it each time we played. I remember Bridie making another dress so that me and my sister could have one each.
Research
I have done some online research to find out individuals earliest memories. Reading the memories show emotions, age, how individuals felt and just what had happend

Early Memory
For this project, I am thinking of doing the editoral design. As the concept can be anything, I have thought of doing various storys and including them within the design template as it is always good to have variety! I have set out researching and interviewing....I have had storys like "I remember being in the womb" .."the day I was born" .."When I was two days old"...not that easy to question someone about early memories but I have got a few good ones!! :-)
